Sexual Assault

Being the victim of a sexual assault, either as a child or as an adult, can be extremely traumatising.

This type of trauma can give rise to a mixture of every possible, sometimes conflicting, emotion including fear, anger, resentment, hatred, sadness, guilt, and even love. Especially if the abuse took place over a long period and the abuser had an emotional bond with you. See Emotional trauma.

Many abuse survivors go on to have difficulties with confidence, self esteem and may find it hard to trust people. Which can make sustaining relationships especially difficult.

Sometimes people who were abused as children can feel guilty because they may find themselves feeling angry towards their non-abusive parents; because they failed to protect them and stop it happening. This is a universal worry which is addressed as part of the treatment.

I specialise in assisting abuse survivors to move forward.

We can’t change the past, but I can certainly help you to take the sting out of it, which will assist in enabling you to reach your potential.
